Dean's speech
The faculty of Medicine in Mutah shines as a beacon of science and knowledge in the south of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and soars high as an essential and primary component of Mutah University, “the University of the Sword and the Pen,” with its military and civilian wings.
Amidst life's diverse journeys and diverse paths, there is nothing that captivates us more than standing in one of the oases of science and knowledge to talk about one of its pure springs that emerged about two decades ago, when the idea of establishing the faculty of medicine developed into reality in Mutah; the land of history in Karak Governorate, which was established in 2001 to become an edifice of science.
Mutah Faculty of Medicine is renowned for its unwavering dedication to student-centered medical education. Dedication and commitment are the guiding principles of the faculty and staff, as they firmly believe that the student is the core of the educational process. They spare no effort in raising outstanding and distinguished students, and we envision them as bright stars in the sky of the nation, adhering to the values and principles instilled in them and embodying the essence of the faculty that supports their professional growth and enhancing their deep connection to medicine, science, and knowledge.
Our faculty is committed to the relentless pursuit of achieving a prominent position and a respectable reputation and obtaining international recognition from international accrediting bodies, such as the International Federation for Medical Education, to excel as a distinguished institution in scientific research and medical education. This is enhanced by achieving international quality standards to provide a rich student environment and enhance creativity, excellence, and innovation in all disciplines. With the relentless pursuit of excellence, quality, and prestige, it remains a guiding light for society, a catalyst for change, a symbol of progress, and a beacon of science.
Since its establishment, the faculty of medicine has maintained its prestigious position, hosting many conferences, the last of which was in 2023, marked for the first time by cooperation and partnership with the Jordanian Medical Association, Karak branch. With the pivotal role of Mutah
Medicine in strengthening the local health care system, the faculty effectively serves the local community, as faculty members participate in providing medical care at Karak Governmental Hospital, providing specialized services and advanced medical care. This is complemented by free medical days, awareness campaigns, and lectures organized by the college to serve the community.
Despite the geographical and material challenges, the expansion and progress in education have exceeded all expectations. The Faculty of Medicine at Mutah University has made remarkable achievements in higher education, as recent years have witnessed remarkable growth and development, as evidenced by the provision of postgraduate programs in public health administration and a higher specialization certificate program in medicine.
Finally, our faculty has contributed to graduating qualified doctors who have made a significant mark in medicine and scientific research. In addition, this faculty has contributed to graduating groups of leaders in various aspects of national, political, economic, social, literary, and religious life. Here, we emphasize that we support all activities, research, and extracurricular activities that enrich our graduates and provide them with research, practical, and leadership experiences to produce doctors and leaders without compromising the core role of the Faculty of Medicine in medical education.
May GOD grant our dear students good luck and lasting success and illuminate their path so they may be valuable and productive and build the country they love...
May GOD preserve Jordan as a dear and invincible homeland under the shadow of His Hashemite Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein the Great. May God protect and protect him.

  I am pleased to welcome you at the site of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in behalf of the academic, technical and administrative members of our department.
 Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was established as one of the basic science departments in the Faculty of Medicine, which aims to provide adequate and current information to students in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology, the department as well collaborates with other medical departments within the teaching integrative systems of the human body style; to provide students with the different skills, to be able to solve the medical problems in an efficient way.

The department of Community medicine and public health has worked since the establishment of the faculty of medicine at Mutah University on training future doctors on principles and application of community medicine and preventive medicine. Our department also working on serving and helping the local community at Karak Governorate and the Kingdom in general through health promotion lectures and activities. Also we have been serving the local community and the country through research projects that help decision makers in drawing help policies based on their results.

We work hard to keep our students and staff updated in our fields and on preparing future doctors on applying preventive medicine and evidence based medicine in their practice. We have achieved this through training students and involving them in medical research projects.
Although we have limited resources, we have conducted more than ten national projects over the last two years and published more than thirteen papers in peer reviewed journals.

We are very proud of the hard work on our staff to improve our faculty and university hoping to reach outstanding new milestones in the near future.

Our work has also extended to the region through participation in regional efforts in disease control and prevention. Our staff has been selected by regional and international organizations to help neighboring countries in different fields.

The variety of subspecialties at our department such as public health, mother and child health, occupational health, preventive medicine, epidemiology, environmental health has assisted us in achieving our goals. We also are keen on continuous development and improvement.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

1. To Apply knowledge and skills in the medical discipline to fulfill the needs of the nation
2. To Solve problems, think creatively, and learn new skills independently and efficiently in order to become safe, caring and competent doctors
3. To Use information from various resources in order to improve medical related knowledge, skills and productivity
4. To work in their profession with high ethical values

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

1. Constructing a management plan of commonly encountered problems of individual patient and the community
2. Practicing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative medicine in respect to the commonly encountered health problems
3. Appreciating the socio-psychological, culture, economic and environmental factors affecting health and development human attitude towards discharging one’s professional responsibility
4. Being competent to work in a variety of health care settings and posses high moral values, ethics and professionalism
5. Be able to work as a leading partner in health care teams and acquiring proficiency in communication skills
6. Identifying community health problems and learning to work to resolve these by designing, instituting corrective steps and evaluating outcome of such measures

The Department General Objectives:
- To provide students with new and updated information about medical microbiology & immunology through introductory courses and as separated lectures in the integrated modules with all laboratory work that supports the theoretical part of the lectures
To educate the students about emerging infectious disease and the importance of infection prevention.
- To encourage research work in the field of medical microbiology and infectious diseases, both conducted by staff members and students.
- To serve the local community at Al-Karak province at the schools or any other local societies by arranging educational lectures about the infectious diseases and its prevention or any related general public health issues.

Vision:
 The vision of the Department of Pharmacology is to provide excellent teaching and research activities for medical students in the field of Pharmacology.

  Objectives:
 The aim of studying pharmacology is to ensure the safe & effective use of drugs. Students will understand and be familiar with the proper & safe use of drugs. During the course, students will study the general principles of pharmacology regarding pharmacokinetic & pharmacodynamic of drugs. Moreover, drugs acting on various systems in the body, chemical mediators in the body & their role in health and disease and antimicrobial therapies will dealt with in the general pharmacology course.
